Clear, finite tender information:
Clear decisions, right contractor

For Developers, a comprehensive tender package should remove ambiguity before the project is priced.

I develop planning and architectural information into an explicit, coordinated and clearly defined technical package, establishing what Principal Contractors are being asked to price and ultimately build.

The objective is simple: objective information, not subjective interpretation.

Construction drawings developed for the people who have to build from them.

Before specialising in construction detailing, I owned and ran my own contracting company, undertaking Design & Build projects from initial survey and design, through planning and Building Regulations, to pricing and turnkey construction.

I produced the drawings myself and then built from them. I've therefore experienced first-hand the value of getting the technical information right – and the cost, in my own time as well as on site, of getting it wrong or producing information that simply isn't needed.

That experience still shapes the way I detail buildings today.

Architects
Bolster your practice with experienced technical support, when you need it.

With a degree in Architecture and 30 years' experience spanning architectural practices, technical detailing and working on site as a timber framer, carpenter and contractor, I provide experienced support for Building Regulations and detailed technical design.

I have worked both for and alongside architectural practices throughout my career and understand the importance of supporting the architectural design, client relationship and established ways of working.

Specialist technical support

As architectural services become increasingly specialised, experienced technical resource for the later design stages can be difficult to find – or simply inefficient to maintain in-house for every project.

Building Regulations, construction detailing and technical coordination form the core of what I do every day. Over many years I have developed established details, standards, specifications and ways of working, providing an efficient starting point for the technical development of each project.

This gives practices the flexibility to bolster their existing technical capacity when required, while retaining control of the project and client relationship.

Supporting your design

Every practice works differently. I am accustomed to quickly adopting a practice's drawing standards, conventions and presentation, allowing my work to integrate seamlessly with your own drawing packages.

The intention isn't to reinterpret the architecture, but to understand the design intent and develop the technical information needed to deliver it.

Appointments can be flexible to suit the particular practice, project and client relationship – from specific technical input through to responsibility for a comprehensive Building Regulations and construction package.

My architectural background is complemented by extensive practical construction experience.

Having worked as a timber framer and carpenter, and subsequently owned and run my own contracting company delivering Design & Build projects, I have spent a significant part of my career both producing construction information and building from it.

That experience continues to inform the practical and current nature of my detailing, alongside my architectural training and experience working within architectural practices.

Integrated with your practice

I can work under your umbrella as an extension of your team, while remaining a standalone business with my own hardware, AutoCAD licence and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

I can work remotely or, where beneficial to the project, within your office alongside your team.

This provides additional experienced technical capacity when required, without necessarily increasing permanent staffing or overheads.

A dependable working relationship

I am interested in developing long-term relationships with architectural practices, rather than simply completing isolated commissions.

As we work together, I become familiar with your standards, preferred details, specifications and ways of working.

Communication becomes easier, expectations become established and the technical process increasingly streamlined.

The aim is to become a familiar and dependable technical resource – already accustomed to how you work and able to bolster your team whenever required.
