Services
The right level of information for your project
No two projects, clients or appointments are the same.
Following a detailed review of your project, I compile a bespoke package appropriate to its particular requirements. The package sets out a clearly defined scope of individual services, together with a fixed price.
The aim is simple: the right information, in the right place, at the right level of detail – no more, no less.
A bespoke scope
I encourage collaboration from the outset. Before committing to the package, if there are services within my proposed scope that you would like to add, remove or amend to better suit your requirements, I'm more than happy to discuss these with you.
This allows us to establish and agree what I will provide, what your project requires and the fixed price for that work before proceeding.
How I put the package together?
Following my review of your project, I select the individual services appropriate to its particular requirements.
It isn't a checklist of what you need to choose from. Some projects require only a limited selection, while others may benefit from a more comprehensive scope.
I assemble the package around your project, requirements and budget, providing the level of information I consider appropriate — no more, no less.
What services can be included in the package?

Surveys & existing buildings
For comprehensive refurbishment and extension projects, undertaking the existing survey in-house can be invaluable to the later technical design.
By undertaking the survey myself, I am studying the existing building first-hand with the proposed technical design already in mind. This allows me to identify and record the information I will need when developing the construction details, concentrating the survey on what will actually inform the proposed work, rather than simply producing a generic record of the existing building.
Accurate and relevant survey information at the outset can save considerable time and cost later in the project. Existing construction, levels, services and site conditions can directly influence proposed details, build-ups, materials, budgets and timescales. Establishing these as early as reasonably possible can help identify constraints before they become more expensive to resolve.
Full measured building and site analysis, with the scope tailored to the requirements of the project, can include:
-
Plans and elevations
-
Sections at appropriate scales and levels of detail, dependent on the project
-
Services and runs, including invert and cover levels, head of drain / SVP, oil tank compliance, flues, boilers, extracts and smoke detectors, where accessible
-
Existing construction build-ups and materials, where visibly accessible
-
Intrusive surveys and trial holes arranged where necessary
-
Survey of exposed structure
-
Details of eaves, verges, jambs, sills, lintels, joinery profiles and other relevant existing construction
-
Existing M&E infrastructure
-
Topographical surveys using a Leica rotary level, referenced to a relevant datum
-
Location and block plans using licensed Ordnance Survey mapping, available in CAD / PDF format
-
Relevant Building Regulations compliance checks for refurbishment and extension projects, including Parts B, F, H, J, K, L and M where applicable
-
Reports on construction defects and condition, including damp testing and advice where required
-
General reporting on visible site matters that may affect later stages of the project, including flood risk indicators, evidence of bats, boundary or access issues, potential soakaway / treatment plant positioning and proximity to public sewers
If you require a service, technical input, construction detailing or investigation that isn't listed above, please get in touch. If it falls within my experience and expertise, I'm happy to discuss how it could form part of your project-specific scope.
